Master thesis: creating load for vehicle body and battery durability based on vehicle dynamic

AVL List GmbH (Import) am 07.11.2018 in Österreich, Home-Office

AVL is the world's largest independent company for development of powertrains (combustion engines, hybrid systems, electric drive) as well as simulation and test systems for passenger cars, trucks and marine engines.

We offer a master thesis:

CREATING LOAD FOR VEHICLE BODY AND BATTERY DURABILITY BASED ON VEHICLE DYNAMIC

This thesis focuses on creating the boundary condition at early stage of development for vehicle body (BIW) and large battery systems in passenger cars. At very early stages of development there are very few information available about the suspensions and the body itself. The idea is to create a loading based on different tracks without having many details of vehicle for a good durability investigation of the parts. The developed procedure will be integrated into the AVL standard process.

Task:
  • Literature study
  • Application of vehicle dynamic model, and simplifications to get the same reasonable response
  • Study and application of pseudo damage for durability
  • Calculation of real damage from vehicle dynamic model and correlation to pseudo damage
  • Defining load cases for simplified load cases of vehicle
  • Calculation of real damage from vehicle dynamic model and comparison with simplified version
Study:
  • Field(s) of study: mechanical engineering, technical physics
Requirements:
  • Experience in Vehicle dynamic and FEM tools is appreciated
  • Language: English or German
  • Finite Element Software Basic Knowledge

Remuneration: The successful completion of the thesis is remunerated with a one-time fee of EUR 2,500 before tax.

According to the Austrian Employment of Foreign Nationals Act it is unfortunately not possible to assign graduate work to third-country citizens (Non-EU citizens) and Croatian citizens who study at a university abroad.
