This role is one of 6 Volunteer roles that Caritas Austria is advertising under the REACH project (EU Aid Volunteers: Caritas European Action for Resilience and Effective Humanitarian Response). The REACH project is part of the EU Aid Volunteer (EUAV) initiative, and is funded by the EU’s Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). It is a 24-month project aimed at strengthening local capacity for disaster preparedness, disaster response, protection mainstreaming and resilience-building, through the deployment of motivated, capable and qualified EU Aid Volunteers to work alongside experienced and talented staff on the ground. The Austrian Caritas Central is looking for a Livelihood EU Aid Volunteer in Kathmandu/Nepal from 01.11.2018 until 31.03.2019 .
Ihr Aufgabenbereich:
Task
Strengthening the organization in developing and implementing livelihood programs in the context of sustainable climate change adaptation, resilience and LRRD approaches through:
  • Support to preparation of emergency food security and livelihood program guideline  with resilience and LRRD approach
  • Provide mentoring coaching  to staff in resilience livelihood framework implementation
  • Support to identify the adaptive livelihood strategy with new technology through capturing learning and creating linkage with other relevant actors and networks

 
Wir erwarten:
Required competences:
  • Master Degree in economics, agriculture or related field
  • At least 5 years of experiences in emergency and livelihood sector
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Managing oneself in a pressured and changing environment (cultural sensitivity)
  • Adjustable to stay in remote areas during field visit
Wir bieten:
Working and living conditions:
The EU Aid Volunteer will receive a monthly allowance, as set by the EU:
  • € 554,58 per month whilst in Austria
  • € 234,66 per month whilst in Nepal 

In addition, s/he will also be provided with accommodation; return flights; pre- and post-deployment health check-ups; visa and vaccination costs; health insurance; a resettlement allowance at the end of the deployment; and basic equipment, including laptops and phones for work, for the duration of the deployment. Transportation, accommodation and per diems will be provided for all work-related travel.
 
A 3-week induction will take place in the Caritas Austria Office, Vienna, Austria in November 2018. Once deployed, the EU Aid Volunteer will be based in Caritas Nepal’s office in Kathmandu, with travel to field locations. S/he will be issued with an international contract and will be expected to work 38 hours a week.

Shortlisting and interviews are expected to take place between 13.08.2018 - 24.08.2018.
