The deadline for submitting bids in the tender for reconstruction of Hydroelectric Power Plant Bajina Basta has been extended by three weeks, until April 23rd.
Vasilije Pavicevic, the General Manager of Drimsko-Limske Elektrane, of which the plant is a part of, stated that the reconstruction of the first generator of 100 MW could be initiated in 2009 and that the work on replacing the remaining three could be completed by 2012.
The tender was announced on December 1st, 2006 and the value of the project is EUR 46 million. Thus far, the Austrian Voith-Siemens, the German VA Tech Escher Wyss GmbH, the Swiss ABB and Alstom, the Croatian Koncar and GE Energy from Romania have shown an interest in taking part in the tender.
Pavicevic pointed out that about 50 representatives of the interested companies have visited the hydroelectric power plant from January 11th to January 13th.
The reversible hydroelectric power plant Bajina Basta is an extremely important part of the system of the Serbian power monopoly Elektroprivreda Srbije because it gives it stability in periods of increased usage of electricity.
