Serbian minister of agriculture, forestry and water management, Goran Zivkov, is visiting Austria at the invitation of Austrian federal minister of agriculture, forestry, environment and water management, Josef Proll.

During his two-day visit to Austria, Zivkov will meet Proll and officials of the Austrian Ministry of Agriculture, with whom he will discuss possibilities of improving trade between Serbia and Austria, reforms of the Common Agricultural Policy within the framework of current negotiations with the World Trade Organisation (WTO), and possibilities of technical support by the Austrian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management to the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management for using pre-accession EU funds for new candidate countries.

Zivkov will also attend a session entitled “Exchange of Experience between Serbian and Austrian Organic Farmers,” which is part of project “Paths of Cooperation.” As part of this project, eight farmers from Serbia are visiting Austrian organic farms from June 24 to July 15.

The visit of Serbian farmers is organised under the auspices of the Austrian association of organic farmers Bio Austria and the Austrian Ministry of Agriculture in order to exchange experience and implement scientific procedures in organic farming with Austrian colleagues.
