Public Relations Officer (m/f)

Role profile:
As a part of Light for the World's international PR team you are responsible for strengthening the brand and awareness of our organisation and mandate.
You will create regular and high quality written content in English for print and digital audiences. Through regular dialogue with our colleagues you will identify compelling stories and write fresh and creative content to engage our international audiences. You will research and pitch stories, interviews and other features for international print, broadcast and online media and you proactively identify media opportunities in order to maximize media coverage. You will build and manage relationships with your strong network of journalists and other stakeholders.
As a well-rounded communications professional, you will contribute broadly to our events, international press trips, campaigns and videography projects. You are also willing to support with proofreading, media monitoring and other crucial communications tasks.
In your role you work with colleagues based in Vienna – where much of the PR team are – as well as colleagues based across Europe and Africa.

Your profile:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and, ideally, also in German
  • The ability to write high quality press releases, opinion pieces, interviews and features
  • Several years of working experience in international public relations/ communications
  • Good relationships with international journalists and media and, ideally, experience in coordinating and organising international press trips
  • Ability to deal quickly and confidently with media inquiries
  • Committed to the importance of online media, including social media
  • Experience working in an international multi-cultural organisation
  • Creative, open minded and a very good team player with excellent organisational skills
  • Personal interest in international development and human rights and committed to Light for the World's mandate and values
  • Willingness to travel, including to our project countries in Africa, South America and Asia

This position will be located either in Vienna or in London (please note, if the candidate resides in London, there will be a requirement for regular travel to Vienna). The annual salary for this role is offered commensurate with qualifications and experience.
