We offer a master thesis:

Modeling of P1/P4 Powertrain Configuration with SysML

In AVL Powertrain Engineering (PTE) modern development methods and tools are applied to continuously improve the process and product quality. The development approach of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) supports the hybrid powertrain development throughout all phases from project offer over the interdisciplinary development of the product until the systematical post-processing of the project. For this purpose, a system model is created during each hybrid powertrain development project, which contains the system architecture, functions and states. Different interfaces to simulation or requirements engineering enable a seamless integration into the tool environment in the development process.


  • Familiarization with the MBSE methodology and the modeling tool PTC Integrity Modeler
  • Identification of all relevant technical content for the model and alignment with different stakeholder
  • Modeling of a P1/P4 powertrain configuration under consideration of structural & functional aspects
  • Provision of a SysML template model with different levels of granularity


  • Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Technical Physics/ USW NAWI-TECH or similar


  • Interest in automotive industry and hybrid powertrains
  • Interest in systems modeling and method development
  • Joy in interaction with interdisciplinary teams
  • Ideally experience in automotive development projects and systems modeling with SysML

Remuneration: The successful completion of the thesis is a one-time fee of EUR 2.500, - gross remuneration
