Romanian insurance company Astra, a part of the Austrian Uniqa Group, estimates an increase in premiums of 63 per cent for this year, to a total of EUR 140 million."The companys objectives for 2007 are the diversification and development of its portfolio, an increase in its profitability, a continuation of territorial expansion and the development of new sales channels," company representatives told Ziarul Financiar. The company also wants to continue its bancassurance partnership with the Austrian Raiffeisen Group and other banks on the local market. Astra has also won last week a major contract to insure the fleet of Tarom, Romanias flag air carrier. In Austria, Uniqa is the leading insurance group, with a market share of approximately 22 per cent and approximately 6,500 employees. In addition to the publicly listed corporate parent Uniqa Versicherungen AG, the group includes UNIQA Sachversicherung AG, Uniqa Personenversicherung AG, Raiffeisen Versicherung AG, Salzburger Landes-Versicherung AG, CALL DIRECT Versicherung AG, FinanceLife Lebensversicherung AG as well as service and financing companies.
