Romanian company Astra Asigurari, a member of the Austrian group Uniqa, has won a major contract to insure the fleet of the Romanian flag carrier Tarom.
The company will provide CASCO insurance policies to the civil aircraft and spare parts, and will cover the liability of the company towards passengers, luggage, cargo, mail and third parties. The Astra offer was preferred to the ones submitted by Omniasig, Allianz-Tiriac and BCR Asigurari.
Astra has negotiated and obtained for the TAROM fleet a considerable discount on the premium compared to the previous year, keeping the insurance costs to a minimum while being totally covered by re-insurance.
The actual value of the contract, which starts on May 1 and spans over 12 months, has not been revealed.
Astra also has three other airlines among its clients, Blue Air, Romavia and Romaero, and also provides insurance for the Bucharest Baneasa Aurel Vlaicu International Airport and the Air Club of Romania.
