The Romanian branch of Austrian bank Volksbank has doubled its assets since the end of last year, which reached more than EUR 1 billion. The bank has also increased the number of its clients to more than 100,000, most of them individuals.

In September Volksbank operated a capital increase worth RON 59 million (approximately EUR 17 million) that has resulted in the banks share capital increasing to RON 229.1 million (almost EUR 65 million). Volksbank Romania has also expanded its territorial network, to 68 own branches and 40 franchises.

Österreichische Volksbanken - AG consists of 67 independet corporate banks, with over 600 branches, more than 5,000 employees and 660,000 clients in Austria, with a market share of 10 per cent. Since 1991, the bank started its expansion in Eastern Europe and currently has branches in Bosnia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Malta, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.
