Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) officially opened, on Thursday, October 19, at Piatra Neamt, the project of „EU Office BCR“ regional bureaus.

„EU Office BCR” – a concept implemented within Banca Comerciala Romana – ensures the complex and full informing of the bank’s customers with respects to the implications of Romania’s joining of the European structures and will offer both consulting services and a wide range of products destined to finance/co-finance investment projects, in order to improve the European funds accessibility by the bank’s partners“, stated Dan Bunea, BCR’s Executive Vice-President.

On this occasion, BCR organised a regional conference with the theme – „BCR – your partner for successful European projects“, attended by BCR and Erste Bank representatives, as well as local public authorities and businessmen from the the 6 counties part of the North-East Development Area (Neamt, Bacau, Iasi, Vaslui, Suceava, Botosani).

Among the conference speakers are to be mentioned: Sebastian Vladescu - Ministry of Public Finance; Ramona Ivan - Executive Manager, International Relations and Foreign Financing Division, BCR; Arjen Janmaat – Senior Manager, Group Strategy, Erste Bank; Elena Ciangu – Executive Manager within the Neamt Chamber of Commerce; Vasile Sendrea – Deputy Prefect of Neamt County; Constantin Apostol – President of Nord East Development Area Agency and Bogdan Puscasu -, Executive Manager, Neamt County Branch, BCR.

The conference proved itself an efficient occasion for highlightning the advantages offered by the „EU Office BCR” as a competent source of information for the SMEs and Local/Central Public Authorities interested to use structural funding. Furthermore, were stressed out the advantages of having BCR as partner within the projects financed from European funds and from the co-financing perspective as well.

„All these actions will result in transforming the challenges arisen from the European Union integration process into business opportunities, reasserting BCR status of being a strategic partner to its customers, strongly involved into their development“, BCR’s Vice-President mentioned.

BCR will continue the road show presentation of the regional “EU Office BCR” in all the remaining 7 development region centres.

The owner of BCR, Austrian Erste Bank, has aslo decided to replace the heads of the retail, risk management and operations departments. The new executive vice-president will be Martin Skopek, 39, who is leaving a similar position he has held with Ceska Sporitelna, also owned by Erste. Oana Petrescu, recruited from Ernst & Young Romania, will be the second vice-president, while the third position is currently vacant.

BCR is the leading bank in Romania, managing assets in excess of EUR 11 billion. At present, the bank has 455 branches and agencies throughout the country, with outlets in most towns and cities with over 10.000 inhabitants. The bank offers to its customers Internet banking and e-commerce services, issues 21 types of debit and credit cards and owns the largest domestic ATMs network – approximately 1,200 machines and almost 8,700 points-of-sale. The number of customers has constantly increased, exceeding 4 million, at present, of which 90 per cent are private individuals. BCR is the most important financial group in Romania, with domestic and foreign activities through its subsidiaries and branches operating on the banking, capital, leasing, insurance and asset management markets.
