Samir Catovic, the head of the Privatisation Agency of Una-Sana canton, confirmed that Palfinger, the Austrian company involved in the production of hydraulic lifting, loading and handling systems, is interested in buying the majority stake in company Famos from Sanski Most.
Catovic pointed out that, thus far, several meetings with the representatives of the Austrian company have been held and added that Palfinger has also shown an interest in buying Kombiteks from Bihac.
Catovic said that the company plans to open factories in the Una-Sana canton, adding that since Palfinger is one of the global leaders in this branch, the authorities have taken these negotiations very seriously.
The production in Famos was halted eight years ago and ever since, while the status of the company’s 50 employees is still unresolved. Before the war, Famos was part of an eponymous holding company and was involved in the production of parts for heavy machinery.
After the war, the company was registered as an independent legal entity, but it did not survive in the market. Because it was involved in the process of separation from the holding company, Famos entered the privatisation process rather late and, so far, there have not been potential buyers for the company.
