A delegation of company Antofagasta Holdings from Chile visited the copper mining and smelting basin RTB Bor in eastern Serbia on Monday, the Beta news agency has reported.

They talked to managers of RTB Bor and discussed their intention to buy the mines in Bor and Majdanpek, smeltery and copper refinery plant.

Companies from Italy, Australia and Romania have expressed their interest in RTB Bor so far, while Cyprus-based East Point Holdings, which is owned by Serbian businessman Zoran Drakulic, has expressed interest in the smeltery.

Managers of RTB Bor previously announced that the tender sale of their company will be called in early August.

Meanwhile, representatives of insurance company Takovo Osiguranje from Kragujevac announced that six companies from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Greece and Slovenia are interested in the purchase of the majority share package in their company.

According to Beta, the transaction is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Takovo Osiguranje ranks fifth among the 17 insurance firms in Serbia. Last year, its overall premium totaled EUR 13.5 million, while it had 175,000 clients.
