Italian bank Sanpaolo IMI is the first ranked bidder for the purchase of 87.39 per cent of shares in Panonska Bank from Novi Sad, the Beta news agency has reported.

The tender commission and the Serbian Deposit Insurance Agency came up with a list of six potential buyers: Greek Alpha Bank, the National Bank of Greece, Bank Austria Creditanstalt (BA-CA), Hungarian Magyar Kulkersdelmy, Polish PKO Bank and Sanpaolo IMI.

The Agency will soon invite the Italian bank to start negotiations on the sales contract for Panonska Bank.
