The insurance division of BCR (BCR Asigurari) expects to finish the year with a profit of RON 14.28 million (EUR 3.94 million), similar to the 2005 profit, said the companys general director Romeo Jantea.

After the life insurance activities were transferred to the new specialised company BCR Asigurari de Viata, BCR Asiguari now handles only general insurance. BCR Asigurari de Viata was established in October 2005 and currently has a social capital of RON 21.9 million.

"We will try to compensate the loss of the life insurance portofolio by increasing the number of general insurance contracts, in order to keep our incomes at the same level as before," said Jantea.

The BCR group is controlled by Austrian Erste Bank.
