Erste Bank was declared the international investor of 2006 by PriceWaterhouseCoopers and other international institutions, for completing the takeover of the Romanian Commercial Bank, in the largest privatization in Southeast Europe.

The prize was granted within the "International Investors of 2006" event that took place within the "A regional framework for investment in Southeast Europe" conference held in Vienna.

Ana Maria Cristina, the president of the Romanian Agency for Foreign Investments (ARIS), represented
Romania.

Saint-Gobain Glass Romania was honoured as the best investor of the year in Romania for its EUR 43 million investment in the construction of a thermal insulation factory.

The largest greenfield investment in Southeast Europe was considered the construction of the Airport City
commercial center in Belgrade, Serbia by the Israel-based company Africa Israel Corporation.

"The foreign direct investments to the region (Southeast Europe) have steadily increased, reaching
close to EUR 10 billion in 2005. The winners contribution to the region is a total investment of
EUR 4.4 billion and 2,252 new jobs created in 2005. In fact, seven of the winning investments were greenfield projects," said Jean-Pierre Vigroux, a senior partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers South East Europe.
