Erste Bank was declared the international investor of 2006 by PriceWaterhouseCoopers and other international institutions, for completing the takeover of the Romanian Commercial Bank, in the largest privatization in Southeast Europe.
The prize was granted within the "International Investors of 2006" event that took place within the "A regional framework for investment in Southeast Europe" conference held in Vienna.

EUR 4.4 billion and 2,252 new jobs created in 2005. In fact, seven of the winning investments were greenfield projects," said Jean-Pierre Vigroux, a senior partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers South East Europe.
