Austrian systems integrator Systems Integration & Technology Distribution (S&T) will open a nearshore centre S&T Software in Bucharest, that will offer software development, project management and consulting services, reads a company’s communiqué on Monday, June 26.

The new nearshoring centre should reinforce S&T’s strong position in the software solutions markets of Central and Eastern Europe.

Customer requirements increasingly call for individual industry-specific software solutions. The S&T nearshoring centre in Romania was founded in response to impulses on the IT markets in Western and Eastern Europe, and will offer software development, project management and consulting services, the company infroms.

The decision to base the new subsidiary in Romania was taken very consciously: highly educated software developers (SAP, Microsoft, Java, etc.) with good language skills, competitive prices and proximity to the customer make nearshoring more attractive for Western and East European companies than off-shoring in Asia.

S&T Software employs only highly qualified software specialists. Agreements with local sub-contractors enable the team to be variably expanded according to project requirements. By the end of the year, more than 60 people will be working for S&T Software, and the company plans to open additional branches in Romania in 2007, leading to further significant increases in the size of the workforce.
