Austrian Chancellor Confirms Ukraines Right to Obtain EU Membership in the Future

Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel confirms Ukraines right to obtain membership of the European Union in future.

"We cannot exclude this possibility in the future, but we must walk step by step rather than run," he said in Brussels on Friday.

He said Ukraine and the EU should be good friends.

As earlier reported, Wolfgang Schuessel, in an interview with a German newspaper, said Ukraine, Turkey, and the countries of North Africa should be offered as broad as possible ties, which would be close to membership in the EU, but without making them actual members of the union.
