Die Sunday Times hat Ernst Strasser in monatelangen Recherchen als Lobbyisten entarnt. Hier Auszüge aus den Videos der britischen Zeitung, die Undercover geführt wurden.

Es ist der erste Termin. Die Journalisten der Sunday Times treffen Ernst Strasser, geben sich als Lobbyisten aus. Strasser erklärt seine Doppelrolle als Lobbyist und Parlamentarier:
"In five years I will have an office here in Brussels because this is now, this a wonderful opportunity to learn all the people, to have my own network, and to, to use this network for my companies. This is a very good combination."

"Is see it now in Austria after one year. There are a lot of people, they need something (..) in whatever. And when you go there as a MEP, this is something, it opens a door in another way as you go in there as a lobbyist, yes? Of course I'm a lobbyist, yes, and I'm open for that."

"I have only one chance to lie, yes? So I will be very very careful on this, because if you once lie, you are dead. I don't want to be (dead), I want to build up my network and want to use it after my time as an MEP."

Strassers Zukunftspläne

"My clients pay me for a year 100.000, yes. I now have five - hopefully from tomorrow, six clients where I make such an advisor. (...) You are not included. You are the seventh."

Bei einem zweiten Treffen, scheinen Strasser und die "Lobbyisten" handelseins geworden zu sein. Ein Journalist fragt:

„But obviously one of your advantages ist hat you're an MEP so therefore you can move around in the parliament?" - Strasser: "Of course".

Auf dem Tisch in dem Video liegt ein Papier. Strasser deutet darauf und sagt:

„Of course, (...) when this comes to the parliament, we can try to influence people who are in the committee, working on these issues as to get the right information to, to get the direction, where we want to have them to change some critical content."

Eine Reporterin gibt an, dass ein "Klient" für ein Änderungswunsch in einem Gesetz und fragt ob Strasser kurzfristig etwas tun könne. Strasser anwortet: „You send me the amendment, and what your client wants to change."

Bei einem weitere Treffen berichtet Strasser auf die Frage: „But I can tell our client that the amendment was submitted to the Austrian MEP and the Spanish MEP?" - Strasser: "Yes, and it was discussed with the Spanish and the Spanish made a compromise with the others in dropping the second warning and speeding up the time limit. And I think that's a good compromise."
